Welcome to Blackbirdnews, Amy Julia Rose! You’ve been busy – tell our readers what you have been up to recently?
I recently signed with a new acting agent, Tangerine Talent, and I am recording more episodes of ‘The Order of Chaos With a K’ which can be streamed on Spotify, Amazon and Apple Podcasts.
Congrats on the new film. Can you tell us about it?
My new movie is called “Leave of Absence”, written and directed by the talented Dominique Chittams. The story followsa fan of a pop star who realizes she’s scheduled for a shift at work the same night as the concert she’s been waiting for. She must come up with a way to call off … even if it is a little extreme.
What character do you play in the film?
I play Hannah Williams, a devoted Christian woman who is extremely honest and reliable…that’s the only reason she helps her boss commit tax fraud, right?

Who else is in the project?
The film stars many talented actors including Madison Bustamante, Nich Noll, Autumn Hayes and Nahal Sadeghian. The cinematographer was Laisa M. Santos. Ariel Lonstein and Sabrina Margeaux did hair and makeup, and Jill Bottcher was the wardrobe stylist.
Aside from the movie, are you working on anything new?
Yes, I’m directing a staged reading of five of my original plays. The show is called ‘Are You Mad At Me?’ It includes my plays ‘Calm Down’, ‘I Don’t Like Haikus’, ‘Young Picasso and His Mother’, ‘Simran’, and ‘Commandments’. It goes up for one night only; Thursday, March 13, at 6:30pm at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood. It’s a free event and everyone is welcome to come watch and laugh! I’m also going to be filming another movie in the beginning of March, and an episode of a TV show in early April. I’ve also been taking improv classes at Groundlings, where I’ve been wanting to study for a long time, and I’ve been enjoying it a lot.
Finally, how can people find and follow your journey?
My work can be found on IMDb and I share on Instagram @amyjuliarose
