Welsh folk-rock band Rusty Shackle will release their new single, “Stand Up Tall,” on July 24. The track gives fans another taste of their upcoming album, Mayfield, which comes out August 29 on Get Folked Records.

Rusty Shackle are known for mixing folk, rock, and indie sounds into uplifting, story-driven songs. Their new track continues this style, focusing on friendship, resilience, and finding strength during uncertain times.

“Stand Up Tall” is an encouraging anthem. The song lets listeners find their own meaning, whether they are dealing with self-doubt, tough times, or looking for confidence. Its lyrics gently remind people to keep believing in themselves.

The song uses a simple folk arrangement that highlights its emotional message. Drawing inspiration from Neil Young’s storytelling, the folk sounds of Fleet Foxes and The Decemberists, and Wilco’s warmth, it creates an honest and intimate listening experience.

The release serves as another glimpse into Mayfield, Rusty Shackle’s highly anticipated sixth studio album. While the band has built a reputation for energetic live performances and festival-ready anthems, the new material also reflects a quieter, more reflective side of their songwriting without losing the warmth and optimism that have become their trademark.

Formed in South Wales in 2010, Rusty Shackle have spent more than a decade building a loyal fanbase through relentless touring and memorable live shows. Their music combines heartfelt lyrics with rich melodies and infectious energy, allowing them to comfortably move between folk, rock, and indie influences while maintaining a distinctive identity.

The band’s previous album, Under a Bloodshot Moon, reached No. 2 on the UK Folk Albums Chart in 2022 and received praise from critics, with reviewers describing it as one of the group’s strongest releases to date. In 2023, Rusty Shackle were also honoured as Wales’ Folk Favourites at the Wales Folk Awards, recognising their growing impact on the contemporary folk scene.

The six-piece lineup features Liam Collins (vocals, guitar), Alex McConnachie (guitar, synth, vocals), Baz Barwick (guitar, tenor guitar, mandolin), Scott McKeon (fiddle, banjo), Ryan Williams (bass, trumpet, piano), and George Barrell (drums, vocals). Together, they have become known for creating music that feels equally at home on festival stages, in intimate venues, and on long road-trip playlists.

Following the release of “Stand Up Tall,” the band will celebrate the arrival of Mayfield with an album launch show at Tramshed Cardiff on August 29, before continuing their 2026 tour with performances at festivals including Between The Trees, Bunkfest, and Days In The Sun.
