Welsh four-piece Part Time Signals have released their new single, ‘Green Light’, giving listeners the first taste of their upcoming album ‘Duck’s Back, Baby’. The single arrived on August 28, 2026, while the new album is set for release on November 6, 2026, through Cardiff-based independent label Bubblewrap Collective.

‘Green Light’ opens the new album and captures the feeling of wanting to move forward after being stuck in the same place for a long time. The song looks at those moments when time seems to stand still, while holding on to the belief that eventually the right moment will come and the green light will appear.

Musically, the track brings together warbly guitars and keyboards, reverb-heavy vocals, layered harmonies and crisp drums. Part Time Signals recorded the song themselves at Giant Wafer Studios, with additional instrumentation from Stephen Black on flute and clarinet, Rhodri Brooks on pedal steel, and David Newington on vibraphone.

The single is part of the band’s second full-length album, ‘Duck’s Back, Baby’, which follows their 2023 debut ‘Another Day In Paradise’ and their 2025 EP ‘The Window’. The album was largely self-recorded during an intensive five-day session at Giant Wafer Studios in Mid Wales, with further recording completed at the band’s rehearsal space and homes in Cardiff.

According to the band, the album has been slowly taking shape over several years, with songs being developed and assembled piece by piece. Together, the collection explores different parts of the human experience, with connections and themes gradually revealing themselves as the album unfolds.

The recording process also allowed the band to experiment with a wider range of instruments and sounds. Along with their own performances, the album features contributions from David Newington, Rhodri Brooks and Stephen Black, adding vibraphone, pedal steel, clarinet, flute and saxophone to the record’s sound.

Part Time Signals are made up of Gavin Jenkins, Jacob Church, Michael Blanchfield and Sam Barnes, all musicians with connections to several other Welsh music projects. Over the years, the Cardiff band has developed its own relaxed and slightly psychedelic indie sound, earning positive attention for both its debut album and follow-up EP.

With ‘Green Light’, Part Time Signals begin the next chapter of their journey. The song offers a gentle but forward-looking introduction to ‘Duck’s Back, Baby’, an album shaped over several years and built from a collection of songs that explore life, uncertainty and the many different moments that come with being human.

‘Green Light’ is out now on digital platforms, while ‘Duck’s Back, Baby’ will be released on November 6, 2026.
