Lalisa Manobal, better known simply as Lisa, has captivated the world since her debut with Blackpink in 2016. Now, as she steps into a new era of her career, Lisa is ready to showcase her evolution not just as a K-pop sensation but also as an independent artist, entrepreneur, and actress.

Lisa’s journey from a small town in Thailand to becoming one of the most recognizable faces in the world of K-pop is nothing short of extraordinary. Known for her “Killing Parts”—those electrifying moments in Blackpink music videos that capture the audience’s attention and refuse to let go—Lisa has consistently proven herself as a powerhouse performer. Her solo endeavors, beginning with the release of “Lalisa” in 2021, cemented her status as a global icon, with the track breaking records and her second single, “Money,” achieving over a billion streams on Spotify.

But Lisa’s ambitions extend beyond the music that has made her famous. With the release of her new solo project “Rockstar,” she is marking a significant shift. This time, Lisa is not only the artist but also the boss. Her new music is being released under Lloud Co., her own management company, in partnership with RCA Records. This move symbolizes Lisa’s transition from being a star within the K-pop system to carving out her own path on a global stage.

“Rockstar” is more than just a title; it’s a statement of intent. Lisa has always had a rebellious streak, and now, she’s fully embracing it. From her fashion choices—think big earrings, sexy outfits, and silver accessories—to her unapologetically bold lyrics, Lisa is channeling her inner rockstar, both on and off the stage. As she puts it, “When I wear it, I just feel like, ‘Okay, I’m a rock star.’ I’m going to walk like a rock star. I’m going to sit like a rock star.”

This newfound confidence also extends to her decision-making process. Unlike before, when she might have deferred to others, Lisa is now clear about her likes and dislikes, ensuring that her creative vision is fully realized. “I think that’s the most important. Because if I say, ‘Ah, it’s okay,’ [people] don’t know—like, am I really okay with it? So I have to be able to say ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ Not in between,” she explains.

In addition to her music, Lisa is branching out into acting. She is set to make her acting debut in the third season of the critically acclaimed HBO series The White Lotus, which is being filmed in her homeland of Thailand. The show, known for its satirical take on society, is the perfect platform for Lisa to showcase her talents in a new medium. The role also allows her to reconnect with her roots, as the filming locations in Bangkok and the islands of Phuket and Koh Samui allow her to be close to her family and enjoy the comforts of home.

While Lisa’s solo career is taking off, she is quick to reassure fans that Blackpink is far from over. All four members have renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment for future group projects, and there’s even talk of a tour in 2025. “Of course we’re continuing, for sure,” Lisa affirms. “We’re so proud of Blackpink, and I love Blackpink. It is not just because of our fans, it’s for ourselves. There was no doubt. This is our life.”

As Lisa steps into this new chapter of her career, she does so with a sense of purpose and clarity that comes from years of hard work and dedication. From a young girl in Thailand with a dream to one of the most influential artists in the world, Lisa’s journey is a testament to her talent, resilience, and unyielding spirit. With “Rockstar,” her own management company, and her acting debut on the horizon, Lisa is truly ready to be unleashed on the world.
