Los Angeles-based soft rock meets California pop singer-songwriter Diana McGrane has released her new single and music video, “See You Smile Again,” timed to coincide with Día de los Muertos. The song welcomes the return of a beloved spirit and honors all those we have loved and lost.
“See You Smile Again” is a fond and nostalgic remembrance of a long-lost love and the hope that endures indefinitely, capturing the haunting impression love leaves on a soul. Featuring ethereal guitar tones, a smooth and expressive guitar solo by Maverick McGrane, and silky harmonies from CJ Wallace, the track blends a light, lush sound with a deeply fulfilling connection.

McGrane is a songwriter based in the Los Angeles area. The daughter of a Golden Gloves Light Heavyweight Boxing champion on her father’s side and a Mexican poet, singer, and guitarist on her mother’s, she feels she inherited both a love for the written word and the willingness to fight for her dreams.
After graduating from college, working as a professional, and becoming a wife and mother, McGrane realized she had accomplished many of her dreams—except for the one she had held since she was five years old. At that age, she memorized all the lyrics to Harry Nilsson’s “Without You” and played the song repeatedly because of its clever writing. She also remembers writing a new song every time she visited Zuma Beach and singing along the shallow edge of the ocean, hoping the waves would sing with her.
It was the dream that had been hiding inside her all along: songwriting.
Soon after recognizing her need to express herself through music, McGrane revisited her old guitar and began strumming the chords she had been hearing all along. As she likes to quote, “The songs just came pouring out!”
Her debut EP, wondering, is a four-song musical collection featuring folk-infused pop-rock tracks exploring desire, connection, hope, reawakening, and more. The EP garnered critical praise.
With her new single and music video “See You Smile Again,” McGrane continues to explore the enduring power of love and memory. The release is a heartfelt tribute to those who remain present in our lives through the memories we carry.
Ultimately, Diana McGrane hopes her music inspires others to become a better version of themselves. She shares, “Recognizing the good qualities of a person really helps reshift your focus in life. The inspiration from another human being presents a marvelous opportunity to grow. I wrote the music as an ode to love as I went through these experiences.”
