Actor Sreeleela has spoken out strongly against the misuse of artificial intelligence after AI-generated images and videos falsely portraying her began circulating online. Calling the situation “deeply disturbing and devastating,” the actor confirmed that she has filed a police complaint and urged social media users to act responsibly.
On Wednesday, Sreeleela used her social media platforms to share a heartfelt note about the issue. She explained she was recently made aware of AI-generated content using her likeness without consent. Although she often ignores online noise, she said this incident crossed a line and left her emotionally shaken.
In her message, Sreeleela appealed to the public not to encourage or share such content. She emphasized the clear difference between using technology constructively and abusing it. She said technological advancements are meant to simplify lives and create value, not cause harm or distress. She called the misuse of AI in this way “nonsense” and urged people to consider the real impact behind every click and share.

The actor also highlighted a broader issue, reminding people that every woman, regardless of profession, has a family and personal life. She wrote that every woman is someone’s daughter, sister, friend, or colleague, and no one deserves to have their image manipulated or misrepresented. Sreeleela noted the film industry is meant to spread joy and creativity, and artists should be able to work in an environment where they feel safe and protected.
Sreeleela thanked her well-wishers for bringing the matter to her attention, since her busy schedule had kept her unaware of much happening online. She admitted that speaking about the issue made her uncomfortable but felt it was necessary to address it publicly, not just for herself but for others facing similar situations. She said she was reaching out for her colleagues also affected by AI misuse.
Confirming legal action, Sreeleela stated that she has filed a police complaint and that the authorities will now take the matter forward. She ended her note by requesting her audience to stand by artists with grace, dignity, and understanding.
On the work front, Sreeleela had a busy year in 2025 with films like Robinhood, Junior, and Mass Jathara. She is also set to make her Bollywood debut in an upcoming film directed by Anurag Basu alongside Kartik Aaryan, and has projects like Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Parasakthi lined up.
Her statement has reignited an important conversation around digital ethics, consent, and the urgent need to regulate the misuse of AI on social media platforms.
