For her new album Bass Persuades Miley Cyrus is showing more of her attitude in the promotional pictures she has recently released. The Grammy-winning singer is seen in a bold, rock-style outfit consisting of micro shorts, a dark bralette and a statement belt with metallic details.
On September 6 the images were posted on Instagram, offering fans another look at the bold visual style associated with Cyrus’ new music.
For the shoot Cyrus wore a simple dark triangle bralette with narrow straps, exposing her stomach and tattoos. She paired it with very short micro shorts worn low on the waist, layered over thin dark tights.
The most notable accessory was a wide black belt with rows of metallic studs, large silver grommets and a huge rectangular buckle, which was worn low around her hips and gave the simple outfit a great deal of attitude.
Cyrus took the rebellious style even further by using a long dark whip as a prop in a performance. The strange accessory gave the photographs more movement and enhanced the punk and rock-inspired atmosphere of the shoot.
Her beauty style remained firmly within the same aesthetic; Cyrus left her hair loose and slightly tousled, with textured layers and curtain bangs surrounding her face. The dark, smudged eye makeup gave her a smoky rock-star appearance, whereas a neutral lipstick kept the attention on her eyes and the overall look.
The photography also contributed greatly to the atmosphere; one photograph employed a black-and-white tone to highlight the clear outline of the outfit, whereas another made use of strong red lighting to give the scene a warmer and more intense atmosphere.

The style, which comes from her longtime collaborator Bradley Kenneth, is in keeping with the bold fashion choices Cyrus has frequently made throughout her career. Instead of choosing a complicated dress, the styling uses a number of powerful features—simple clothing, large hardware, sheer layers, and striking accessories — to achieve a clear and individual visual impact.
As the release of Bass Persuades approaches, Cyrus seems to be creating a visual identity that corresponds with the energy of her music. The promotional pictures she has recently released include punk influences, performance art elements and a confident attitude, providing fans with yet another reason to keep a close eye on the ongoing album campaign.
