Joey King brought a playful dose of high fashion to the London premiere of Practical Magic 2, arriving in a custom Miu Miu gown that combined a soft, romantic look with one of the boldest recent red-carpet trends.
Styled by Jared Eng, King chose a butter-yellow dress made from extremely lightweight chiffon. The gown was almost entirely transparent, with delicate pastel flowers scattered across the fabric to soften its daring construction.
The actress walked the blue carpet against a starry backdrop, and the dreamy setting and floating silhouette gave the outfit a distinctly fairy-tale quality.
The custom gown featured a scoop neckline, short puff sleeves and a loose babydoll-inspired shape. Instead of relying on a heavily structured silhouette, Miu Miu used the movement of the sheer fabric to create the drama.
The translucent chiffon flowed from the bodice down to the floor, forming a light train behind King as she moved. Tiny floral appliqués were placed across the dress, adding colour and texture without hiding the sheer nature of the design.
Underneath, King wore a high-waisted cream bodysuit with a Miu Miu logo waistband. The base layer provided coverage while allowing the transparent outer dress to remain the main focus.
King kept the rest of her styling relatively restrained. She wore cream patent-leather Miu Miu slingbacks with pointed toes and slim buckle straps.
Her jewellery choice added a small burst of colour. She selected the L’Dezen Violetta Fleur Bleu ring, designed with two blue-and-purple flowers, which complemented the pastel details on the gown.
Her long dark-auburn hair was styled into voluminous waves, with soft curtain bangs framing her face. Warm makeup, flushed cheeks, subtle winged eyeliner and glossy lips completed the appearance.
Sheer gowns have become a familiar sight on major red carpets, but King’s look takes a softer route. Instead of using black mesh, metallic fabric or sharply cut panels, the Miu Miu design relies on butter yellow, flowers and a loose silhouette.
That contrast is what makes the outfit interesting. The dress is revealing in construction but deliberately sweet in its styling, creating a look that feels closer to a modern fairy-tale costume than traditional red-carpet glamour.
The choice also fits the mood of Practical Magic 2, where supernatural themes and romantic imagery are central to the film’s identity.
The small flowers aren’t simply decorative. Against an almost invisible fabric, they give the eye points to follow and help break up the long silhouette.
Floral appliqués have also been a recurring Miu Miu detail, particularly in designs that play with the contrast between youthful styling and more sophisticated materials. Here, the flowers help turn an extremely sheer gown into something whimsical rather than severe.
