The UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2024 is scheduled for June 16, 2024, across various exam centers nationwide. With the release of admit cards, the UPSC has also issued several essential guidelines that candidates must strictly adhere to. Here’s a comprehensive look at these guidelines to ensure a smooth and hassle-free examination day.

    Dress Code

While there is no special dress code for the UPSC examination, aspirants are advised to opt for comfortable, light-colored, and modest clothing. Female candidates should avoid wearing expensive accessories or heels. Additionally, candidates should not wear smartwatches and should opt for normal wristwatches instead.

Arrive at the Exam Centre 30 Minutes Early

Candidates are required to take two papers in the UPSC CSE Prelims exam. The first paper will be conducted from 09:30 am to 11:30 am, and the second paper will be held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. UPSC has mandated that all candidates arrive at the exam center at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. Late arrivals will not be permitted to enter the exam center.

    Prohibited Items

To maintain the integrity of the examination, candidates are not allowed to bring valuable items, mobile phones, smart/digital watches, other IT gadgets, books, or bags into the examination premises. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a ban from future attempts. Venue supervisors will not provide any facilities to store these prohibited items.

    Permitted Items

Candidates are allowed to bring only a few specific items into the examination hall. These include:
    E-admit Card
    Pen
    Pencil
    Identity proof
    Copies of self-photographs (if applicable)

The instructions on the e-Admit Card will specify any additional items permitted. No other items will be allowed inside the examination hall.

    Examination Rescheduling

The UPSC Prelims exam was initially scheduled for May 26 but was deferred to June 16 due to the general elections for the 18th Lok Sabha, which commenced on April 19.

Adhering to these guidelines allows candidates to ensure they are well-prepared and compliant with the rules, allowing them to focus on performing their best in the examination.
