Model Kathy Jacobs posed for a portrait at her home in Calabasas, Calif, on Friday, July 17, 2020, debuting for her Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue at the age of 56.
The 5’3 model believes that it is essential for people to not define beauty because of their age or height. Jacobs, who stands tall with high confidence in her body, hopes her appearance in the issue will help change readers’ thoughts on outer beauty.
“I’m just like so grateful that they took like a chance on me,” says Jacobs.” Two things you can’t change about yourself are how old you are and how tall you are.”
The 2020 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue features a triad of models — Olivia Culpo, Jasmine Sanders, and Kate Bock. They have individual covers as well that are available online and on newsstands from Tuesday.
All through the years, the issue has maintained freshness, with plus-sized models, painted bikinis, unedited photos, tiny swimsuits, older models, amputee models, and the inclusion of celebrities in relationships and professional athletes.
“That’s the great thing about Sports Illustrated is they just keep reinventing themselves, and they keep reinventing what your view of beauty is,” Jacobs expresses. “And they keep showing people that there’s more than one kind of beauty out there.”
