Television Music Producer Tasha B Enters Partnership with LIU Brooklyn’s Roc Nation School of Music to Bring Beat Battles and Industry Insight to Students

Tasha B, a music producer, entrepreneur, and beat battle host whose work has appeared on MTV, Showtime, BET, and multiple Tyler Perry productions, is pleased to announce a partnership with the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment at Long Island University Brooklyn. The producer plans to build a beat battle program throughout 2023 with the goal of bringing industry attention to an undiscovered generation of talented music students. The long-awaited partnership will officially kick off with a student beat battle hosted by Tasha B sometime this Spring.

“Beat battles are critical for young producers hoping to catch the eye of industry pros,” said Tasha B. “I remember feeling lost at the beginning of my music career and simply wanting someone to listen to my music – I’m honored to create that opportunity on a bigger scale for a deserving pool of untapped talent.”

The Roc Nation partnership got its start following Tasha B’s first beat battle at SoHo house in New York City. Following the successful event, multiple companies reached out with offers and resources to expand the beat battle. After months of negotiations, Roc Nation presented the strongest community-oriented opportunity.

Tasha B. attended the SoHo House event as a member of BeatClub, a music producer community owned by super producer Timbaland. Tasha B has been an active member of the organization since 20XX, and thanks to its well-connected network, she’s been able to get her music on various television networks including MTV (Fresh Out Live Season 3), BET (Tyler Perry’s Sistas Season 3) and Showtime (Ziwe Season 1).

“I competed in my first-ever beat battle in Tampa Florida in 2019, and it dramatically altered the trajectory of my career,” said Tasha B. “I spent my last few dollars on booking a flight and stayed with one of my friends to go. Even though I was new to the area and one of the only female producers competing, I ended up walking away with the $1,000 first-place prize and a new professional network. It was the beginning of everything for me, so I know first-hand that these events have the potential to become someone’s first step, too.”

As Tasha B continues to develop her program and platform at The Roc School, the producer intends to focus on sharing her industry knowledge with students and preparing them for a practical career in music.

“When people become successful in the music industry, they too often forget to give back to their communities,” said Tasha B. “I couldn’t be more grateful for the people and programs that got me to where I am today, and I have every intention to pay it forward at every opportunity.”
