In a gesture of humanity and social responsibility, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has come forward during a crisis time for Punjab’s flood-hit families. Shah Rukh Khan’s Meer Foundation has provided relief materials to more than 1,500 families across the Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka, and Firozpur districts.
The aid includes relief kits including medicines, hygiene supplies, food items, mosquito nets, tarpaulin sheets, folding beds, cotton mattresses, and other necessities. The floods have wreaked havoc across the region, impacting thousands and causing major damage to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods.
The Meer Foundation has tied up with Amritsar-based NGO Voice of Amritsar (VOA) to help affected people of Punjab because of torrential rains and floods. The founding member of VOA, Seenu Arora, shared that they approached the Meer Foundation for on-ground operations.
“They are happy to contribute in the project submitted by VOA to distribute household goods including beds, mattresses, gas stoves, fans, water purifier etc to about 1500 homes affected by floods and adopted collectively,” said Seenu Arora. Celebrities are helping and contributing to help Punjab come out of this state. Actors Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan, among others, have also come forward to help the people of Punjab.
