Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal have officially confirmed that their much-anticipated wedding has been called off. This ends days of confusion and speculation after the abrupt postponement of their November 24 ceremony in Sangli.
The couple, who had begun their pre-wedding celebrations with close friends and family, issued separate statements on Sunday. They urged the public and media to respect their privacy during what they described as an emotionally difficult time for both families.
After days of silence, Smriti Mandhana released a brief statement confirming that the wedding would no longer take place. She requested privacy for her family and did not share further details, emphasizing that the matter was deeply personal.
Palash Muchhal followed with a longer, heartfelt statement on Instagram Stories, acknowledging the end of the relationship and addressing the rumors that spread on social media after the wedding’s postponement.
“I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship,” he wrote.
Responding to unverified claims that the wedding was delayed due to alleged infidelity, Muchhal firmly dismissed the gossip, saying:
“It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me… I hope we, as a society, learn to pause before judging someone based on unverified gossip.”
He added that this was “the most difficult phase” of his life and assured fans he would handle it with grace.
Muchhal also revealed that his team would pursue legal action against individuals spreading false allegations online.
“Our words can wound in ways we may never understand,” he reminded his followers while asking for sensitivity and compassion.
What Happened on the Wedding Day?
The couple had planned to marry on November 24 in Smriti’s hometown of Sangli. Pre-wedding functions were underway and attended by several members of the Indian women’s cricket team.
On the morning of the wedding, Mandhana’s manager informed guests that the ceremony had been postponed indefinitely because of her father’s sudden hospitalization. Later that day, Palash and his family returned to Mumbai, where he was reportedly admitted to a hospital.
A Difficult Chapter for Both Families
With both statements now public, the speculation has come to an end. Mandhana and Muchhal have requested space to heal and move forward while discouraging the spread of misinformation.
As fans and well-wishers process the news, the focus shifts to respecting the privacy and emotional wellbeing of two individuals facing a sensitive moment under intense public scrutiny.
