Los Angeles-based musician and designer Jade Duncan, who writes and records as Blu Jay has released her latest single, the alt-pop track “Money, Power, Sex, Fame,” produced by Blu Jay,  Wayne Jobson (No Doubt, Gregory Isaacs, Toots & the Maytals) and  Jack Xander. The song’s tongue-in-cheek social commentary on class and fame is inspired by one of her biggest influences, Lana Del Rey. Like the celebrated and often controversial songwriter, Blu Jay is unafraid to challenge mainstream narratives on cultural events and issues.

“’Money, Power, Sex, Fame’  is a personal reflection on how living in LA, with its intense focus on wealth and fame, can corrupt and change people,” Duncan told Mundane Magazine. “This city is vibrant and full of opportunity, but there’s also a darker side—a materialism that seeps into everything. I’ve seen how pursuing success here can shift people’s values and lead them down a hollow path. Money Power Sex Fame aims to blend introspective lyrics with a compelling beat to expose the true cost of chasing the LA dream. This track is a statement on the emptiness that often lurks beneath the city’s glamorous surface.”

Duncan, who is half Brazilian, was born and raised in Los Angeles, which she credits for having a powerful impact on her music. Her musical journey began at 8 when she started singing and playing guitar, quickly discovering her talent for crafting songs that reflect her rich heritage. Her breakthrough single, “All in My Head,” soared to the #1 spot on iHeart Radio’s aBreak58, establishing her as a rising star in the indie music scene. Since then, she has been a regular on the music scene in Los Angeles, consistently playing shows with her band, Blu Jay and the Love Bombs, and she has had a recent residency at Harvard and Stone.

Duncan’s creative work extends beyond music. Her resume includes several acting roles where she worked alongside notable masters of their craft, including Emmy Winner Aaron Paul and Oscar Nominee Amy Adams. She also has a buzzy indie clothing line, “Baby Daddy Momma Drama,” known for its bold, hand-painted, graffiti-style designs worn by musicians such as Halsey.
