Organizations can use some low or no-cost energy efficiency measures to save on energy of up to 10-20%. They can even save more energy with a little bit of investment.

Here at Josco Energy, we help organizations to be more energy efficient. We can help you develop the best energy efficiency tips for reducing your organization’s cost of energy and eventually reduce your energy bills. We can help save you more money.

HOW SMES & CHARITIES CAN SAVE ON ENERGY
Turn off lights in unused rooms. Install sensors in these rooms. Installing sensors and turning off lights in these rooms reduces lighting usage. Control light in areas, which are not used frequently, such as meeting rooms, toilets, etc., using movement detectors.

TURN OFF THE LIGHTS DURING THE DAY. THEN, OPEN YOUR BLINDS TO LET THE SUNSHINE IN
If possible, use retrofitting lamps. It is more expensive to buy full lighting refits using LED technology than to buy retrofits. However, they can save you more in the long run because they will pay for themselves in the long term.

INVEST IN LOW-ENERGY LIGHT BULBS, SUCH AS LEDS
If you cannot afford LED lighting, use slim-line tubes like T5 models to replace the standard fluorescent tubes. Use an instant boiling water dispenser instead of a boiler or kettle if you can afford it.

Fridges should not freeze. Therefore, set your fridges to an adequate temperature.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DRINKS MACHINES ON OVERNIGHT AND AT WEEKENDS
Set your office equipment, such as projectors, TVs, computers, displays, faxes, photocopiers, and printers, to energy saver mode. If possible, put simple timers onto your plugs. Timers make it easy to switch off during the holidays, at weekends, and overnight. Switch off items, such as chargers, when not using them.

LET ONE PERSON HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR HEATING CONTROLS AND THE PERSON SHOULD NOT HEAT THE ROOMS EXCESSIVELY
Choose an energy lead in your organization. Then, have a close working relationship with them. Your organization can create heating policies stating the time and temperature settings for cooling and heating.

Set your air conditioning between 19 and 24°C because this prevents constant cycling of cooling and heating and offers a good medium temperature.
