    Cricket Icon Mohammed Shami Headlines Arjuna Award Recipients

    Indian pace sensation Mohammed Shami has been conferred with the prestigious Arjuna Award by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. This accolade acknowledges Shami’s outstanding performance in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup and his significant contribution to Indian Cricket.

    The 33-year-old cricket stalwart played a pivotal role in leading the pace attack for the Indian cricket team during the ICC Cricket World Cup, contributing significantly to the team’s triumph on numerous occasions. Shami’s dedication, skill, and commitment to the sport have earned him the Arjuna Award, India’s second-highest sporting honor.

    The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports announced a list of 26 Indian athletes who will be honored with the Arjuna Award for their remarkable achievements and victories in the year 2023. These athletes have clinched titles and made the nation proud with their exceptional performances at the international level.

    The Arjuna Award, presented by the President of India, is a symbol of sportsmanship, discipline, and excellence in sports. 

    The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports announced a list of 26 Indian athletes who will be honored with the Arjuna Award for their remarkable achievements and victories in the year 2023. These athletes have not only clinched titles but have also made the nation proud with their exceptional performances at the international level.

    Here is the list of athletes named by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports for the Arjuna Awards:

    7. Shri Mohammed Shami (Cricket)
    8. Shri Anush Agarwalla (Equestrian)
    9. Ms Divyakriti Singh (Equestrian Dressage)
    10. Ms Diksha Dagar (Golf)
    11. Shri Krishan Bahadur Pathak (Hockey)
    12. Ms Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu (Hockey)
    13. Shri Pawan Kumar (Kabaddi)
    14. Ms Ritu Negi (Kabaddi)

    17. Shri Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar (Shooting)

    Mohammed Shami is set to receive the Arjuna Award at a ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 9, 2024. This esteemed recognition highlights Shami’s individual prowess and underscores the collective success of Indian cricket on the global stage.

    The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has also acknowledged the accomplishments of other outstanding athletes in various disciplines. The diverse list includes archery, athletics, boxing, chess, cricket, equestrian, golf, hockey, kabaddi, kho-kho, lawn bowls, shooting, squash, table tennis, wrestling, wushu, para archery, blind cricket, and para canoeing.

    As these athletes stand poised to receive the Arjuna Award, the ceremony promises to be a celebration of their dedication, perseverance, and the indomitable spirit that defines Indian sportsmanship on the world stage. The accolade not only honors their achievements but also inspires aspiring athletes across the nation.
