On Friday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a corruption case against IRS Officer Sameer Wankhede and four others for demanding Rs 25 crore bribe from actor Shah Rukh Khan.

The CBI also conducted searches at 29 premises of former Narcotics Control Bureau officer Sameer Wankhede in Mumbai, Delhi and Kanpur after filing an FIR against him and four others.

The big exclusive is that CBI alleged that Sameer Wankhede, two former NCB officials and some private workers had already collected 50 lahks of the demanded 25 crores. On October 2, 2021, Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested in an alleged drug bust case on the Cordelia cruise ship. Later on, charges of drug possession, consumption, and trafficking were applied in the case of the superstar’s son.

Aryan Khan had to spend 22 days in jail though he was given a clean chit by the NCB in May 2022 due to “lack of sufficient evidence”. The former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede has been booked under Sections 7, 7A, and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and Sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 388 (extortion by threat) of the IPC.
