The highly anticipated Emraan Hashmi film, Awarapan 2, a sequel to the 2007 release Awarapan, has finally been released in the theatres on 14 August. The romantic actioner film has clashed with Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947; however, it has emerged as a clear box office winner over the Independence Day weekend.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Films, Awarapan 2 brings back Emraan Hashmi in the character Shivam Pandit after almost two decades to the 2007 cult classic Awarapan. Other than Emraan Hashmi, the film also stars Disha Patani, Puran Gabbi, Aniruddh Rawal, Shabana Azmi, Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, and Atul Kumar in key roles.
Despite its clash with another big-budget film, Batwara, starring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in lead roles, the box office winner is surely Awarapan 2, as it has collected extraordinary numbers at its first weekend. As of now, it seems Batwara would struggle at the box office on the weekdays.
