A Tokyo based make-up and face\body-paint artist renowned for his unique and remarkable special-effects make-up, Amazing JIRO is one of a kind. This special-effects make-up artist’s style is mind-boggling, and his talent knows no boundaries.
JIRO astounds everyone with the full make-up effects and optical illusion he creates, be it making ‘Groot’ on hand or ‘Gypsy skull ring’ on the face. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts, he established his own company, JUR Co., Ltd. With more than 17 years of experience, he not only works as a special-effects make-up artist but also as a creative art director in films, TVCM, and advertisements.
His experience even includes working on many world-famous films like Shin Godzilla, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and Attack on Titan. He also authored a book, ‘AMAZING JIRO SPECIAL-MAKEUP,’ which was published in 2017. In this book, he aims at doing optical illusions with face and body paint. He skillfully creates transformations by adding new ideas to the techniques he acquired while learning special-effects make-up. JIRO even won 2 championships at TV TOKYO’s TV CHAMPION Special Effects Makeup Artists Championship and became a certified champion.
In an interview with Bored Panda, JIRO said, “Currently, there are some differences in expression among Special Effects Make-up, Bodypaint, and Beauty Makeup, however, I would like to expand the make-up world by getting rid of the border of each category.”
