Acting is an art form that goes beyond mere performance. It needs a lot of emotional engagement, intellectual understanding, and sometimes, a major physical transformation as well. Actors go through a lot of preparation to understand a character and become like that. Here are some of the techniques used by the actors:
Script Analysis
Before preparing for any character, actors must analyze the script to the core. This process will help them understand the character more, living the emotions and experiences that the character is witnessing in the story. Actors can also create backstories or write something about the character themselves to give justice to their actions.
Character Research
One of the most important techniques to prepare for any role is by doing critical research for the character. This works especially when one is preparing real-life figures or characters from the historical world. This is where one has to read/watch whatever information is available.
Physical Transformation
When you play any character, it should be reflected from the way you walk to the way you look. So, the physical transformation is imperative for the outlook of any character. It involves weight loss, weight gain, changing hairstyles, walking style, appearance, or changes through makeup.
