The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the winners of the 71st National Film Awards today at a press conference in New Delhi. As a huge moment across the film industry and his fanbase, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has won his first National Film Award for Best Actor for his outstanding performance in his blockbuster film Jawan.
The 59-year-old actor will share the award along with Vikrant Massey, who has won for 12th Fail. The films certified by the censor board from January 1 to December 31 are recognized by the 71st National Film Awards.
Shah Rukh Khan, often called the King of Bollywood, is one of the biggest superstars of the Hindi film industry. Social media is flooded with messages celebrating the superstar’s achievement, with netizens saying that he deserved it long back.
On the other hand, Rani Mukherjee was awarded Best Actress for her performance in Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway. Directed by Atlee, Jawan was the biggest blockbuster of 2023. King Khan deserved the National Award, as the recognition was due. Spanning a career of over 33 years, it is Shah Rukh Khan’s first National Film Award.
