Livvy Dunne, a former gymnast at Louisiana State University, is beginning a new phase in her career with a role in the upcoming Baywatch reboot. The 23-year-old athlete recently shared a beach photo on social media, giving fans a glimpse of her preparation and hinting at her new character.
On March 13, Dunne shared several photos on Instagram showing her getting ready for the role. In the first picture, she’s relaxing on the beach wearing a classic red bikini, smiling at the camera while reading her script.
She joked in the caption, “I’m not a lifeguard, but I play one on TV.”
Dunne has been cast as Grace, a recurring character described as a junior lifeguard in the Fox television reboot of Baywatch. The role marks one of her first major steps into acting after building a large following as a college athlete and social media personality.
Other photos in her Instagram post showed the official casting announcement and a selfie of Dunne proudly holding her script.
Her new co-star Brooks Nader, who plays lifeguard captain Selene, enthusiastically commented on the post, writing, “LETS GO BABY.”
Actress Hassie Harrison also congratulated Dunne and said she was excited to work with her.
The original Baywatch series first aired in 1989 and became one of the most famous beach dramas on TV. It ran for 11 seasons and featured well-known actors like David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, and Carmen Electra.
The new reboot hopes to bring the iconic franchise back for today’s audience while keeping the excitement that made the original series so popular.
The upcoming show will star Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon and Shay Mitchell as Trina, a former lawyer who leaves her career to become a full-time lifeguard. Actor David Chokachi will also return, reprising his role as Cody Madison.
Before the casting announcement, Dunne talked about her interest in acting and how it has been a passion for years.
She said she’s been taking acting lessons and has always wanted to explore film and TV opportunities. But while at LSU, her main focus was gymnastics and school.
Now that she’s graduated, Dunne says she’s excited to pursue new creative opportunities.
She says that whether it’s sports or acting, the best part is seeing hard work finally pay off.
When the reboot was announced in September 2025, producers called it a fresh take on the beloved series. The new show will still have dramatic rescues, complicated relationships, and the strong teamwork of lifeguards protecting Southern California’s coast.
It will also introduce new characters, modern storylines, and fresh challenges for today’s viewers.
An official release date for the Fox series hasn’t been announced yet, but fans are already excited to see Dunne and the rest of the cast bring the iconic beach drama back.
