Sunny Deol’s highly anticipated war drama Border 2 has made a strong debut at the box office. The film opened with great numbers on its first day and saw an even bigger jump on Day 2, bringing its total domestic earnings close to ₹66 crore so far.
Anurag Singh directs Border 2, the sequel to the classic 1997 film Border by JP Dutta. The movie features a talented cast with Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, bringing new excitement to the patriotic war genre.
Early industry estimates suggest the film grossed about ₹36 crore on its second day, indicating clear growth. Evening and night shows were especially busy, with packed halls and high attendance. Night shows had an over 60 percent occupancy rate, indicating that viewers are enjoying the story and performances.
Strong Response Across Major Cities
The film did especially well in cities like Chennai, Jaipur, and the National Capital Region, where many theaters had over 50 percent occupancy. Chandigarh and Bengaluru also saw good numbers, while Mumbai and Kolkata showed steady growth throughout the day.
Trade experts say positive word of mouth is helping bring more people to theaters. Many viewers have praised the film’s emotional depth, intense war scenes, and Sunny Deol’s strong screen presence, which fans have always enjoyed.
Industry leaders are confident that Border 2 will continue to perform well over the long weekend, especially with the Republic Day holiday bringing more people to theaters. Trade analysts have shared optimistic projections, suggesting the film could cross ₹150 crore by early next week if the momentum continues.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh also pointed out the strong audience response. He said that good reviews and positive buzz should help the film earn even more on Sunday and the holiday. The film has already managed to do in just two days what recent war films like 120 Bahadur and Ikkis could not achieve throughout their theatrical runs. While those films struggled to sustain momentum beyond the opening weekend, Border 2 has delivered a much stronger start.
Though the film is reportedly made on a large budget of around ₹275 crore, its current pace suggests a promising theatrical journey ahead.
With powerful performances, emotional storytelling, and large-scale action sequences, Border 2 seems to have revived audience interest in war dramas. The film’s success also highlights Sunny Deol’s enduring box office pull, especially in patriotic roles.
As the weekend unfolds, all eyes remain on how far Border 2 will go. For now, the film has clearly struck a chord with audiences and is shaping up to be one of the biggest openers of 2026.
